Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time. Smallholder farmers are particularly vulnerable to shifting weather patterns, increased frequency of extreme events, and other climate-related risks that threaten their productivity and economic stability. According to the World Bank, unchecked climate change may push up to 130 million people into poverty by 2030.
Root Capital works closely with agricultural enterprises who promote climate-smart and regenerative agricultural practices, such as agroforestry and soil conservation that enhance farmer resilience and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. And we provide them with advisory and financing to deepen their investments in climate solutions, which benefit people and the planet. With the right support, local agricultural businesses can be champions of climate action and key partners in the transition to regenerative agriculture.
